Abu Dhabi government investor Mubadala Investment Company has announced a new life sciences business, Mubadala Bio, as it moves to strengthen the UAE’s drug-making potential and national drug security. It is one of a line of initiatives that will establish Abu Dhabi as a regional hub for biopharmaceutical innovation, guided by long-term economic diversification and health resilience for the UAE.
Mubadala Bio has a large network of production and distribution bases with 10 points that are already operational in Asia, Africa, and Europe. Six are in the UAE and span 110,000 square meters. In aggregate, the bases produce over 2.5 billion tablets and capsules and 120 million injectable and intravenous units every year. The company’s distribution network extends across over 100 nations with a diverse portfolio of products across over 10,000 healthcare products in extensive ranges of therapeutic classes.
Mubadala’s establishment of infrastructure is an indication of the work done by Mubadala in building the life sciences sector, a regional healthcare ecosystem, and driving the UAE towards a knowledge economy. The activities of Mubadala Bio are the primary spectrum of the healthcare process of prevention and detection all the way through to treatment and care in an attempt to apply a holistic approach to healing patients.
